Jeff Farm is a 1932ha property that was gifted to the Salvation Army by Edmund Jeff following his death in 1952. It was his aim the property was used to train young people who may not have had the opportunity, for a career in agriculture. Today the property runs successfully under the management of John Chittick. For Jamie O'Neill, the opportunity to spend two days getting involved in farm activities is one to relish. She even takes up the challenge of staying overnight in the apprentice quarters! Her skills are really put to the test when award-winning dog handler John has Jamie calling the shots to round up the sheep. She gets another chance to show her skills when the black and white faced sheep need separating although this does call for a little more hands on interaction than she perhaps hoped. A couple of days hands on doesn't seem to have dented Jamie's enthusiasm and there's still every chance an agricultural career is in her future. There's certainly more than meets the eye to dairy farming but Leon Wynotts is up for the challenge and in fact, enjoys the farming environment so much he's started an apprenticeship.
